Detergents, stored grain and spray tanks

Questions from detergent makers and from farms and stores dealing with spray tanks and stored grain.

General information. Please read the important notice at the end of this page before acting on anything here.

Detergent powder clumping in storage, what ingredient stops that?

Detergent powder clumps when it absorbs moisture from humid air, especially if it contains ingredients that draw water. Moisture-resistant packaging, dry storage, and the formulation’s balance of ingredients all affect it. Your detergent technologist should review the formula and packaging.

Sodium sulphate is a common filler in powder detergents. Taskon publishes Sodium Sulphate at 99% min. This page does not advise on detergent formulation.

Our detergent powder loses its cleaning strength faster than before on the shelf

Loss of cleaning strength in storage is commonly caused by moisture getting in, which can degrade some active ingredients, or by a change in an ingredient lot or packaging. Test stored samples against fresh ones and check the packaging’s moisture barrier.

Your detergent technologist should run the comparison. Compare the certificates of analysis of any ingredient whose lot changed.

Sodium borate for detergent manufacturing supplier

Taskon Industries manufactures sodium tetraborate and borax anhydrous in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, supplied in 50 kg HDPE bags. Send the grade, quantity and delivery location, and any detergent specification, for a quote.

See Sodium Tetraborate and Borax Anhydrous and the detergents and cleaning industry page.

Pesticide spray solution settling at the bottom of the tank instead of mixing

Settling in a spray tank usually means the product was added in the wrong order, not agitated enough, mixed with an incompatible product, or mixed in hard or cold water. Follow the product label for mixing order and compatibility, and keep the tank agitated.

The pesticide label is the legal instruction for mixing and use. Taskon does not advise on pesticide mixing.

Stored wheat getting insect infestation despite pesticide spray

Insects in stored grain are usually controlled by clean, dry storage, sound bins, monitoring, and, where needed, approved treatment by trained or licensed operators. A spray that is not working may be the wrong product, applied incorrectly, or facing resistance. Consult your agriculture department or a licensed pest control professional.

Grain treatment products and fumigants are strictly regulated and can be dangerous. Taskon does not advise on stored grain pest control.

  • General information only. Nothing on this page is agronomic, veterinary, medical, food safety, engineering, formulation or regulatory advice, and it is not a recommendation for your particular crop, animals, process or product.
  • Symptoms have many causes. Confirm the cause with the right test (soil, leaf, water, feed or laboratory analysis) and with a qualified professional before you change anything.
  • No dosages. Taskon Industries does not publish or recommend application rates, dosages or concentrations. Follow the product label, the Material Safety Data Sheet and your adviser.
  • No promise of results. Naming a Taskon product means it is a common source of a nutrient or material. It is not a claim that it will solve your problem or that it suits your use.
  • Regulated uses. Food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, animal feed, drinking water and aquaculture uses need a grade confirmed by Taskon in writing for that use, and compliance with the laws of the market where the product is used.
  • Handle every chemical safely. Read the Material Safety Data Sheet before handling, storing or mixing any product.
